The weather is exceptionally hot and we know it. Although the Netherlands is generally known to have a cold climate, a few times per year we still have to endure exceptionally hot periods. As short as they stay, we give you our personal tips and tricks to get the most out of it!
Nearby beaches
As a country that’s half build under sea-water-level, there is plenty of water to find to find refreshment.

City parks
Perfect alternative to hot, overcrowded beaches are the many parks in Amsterdam. Packed with large areas of beautiful grass, large trees and refreshing lakes, parks are ideal for a (romantic) picnic with cold drinks, reading, kayaking, supping, sun tanning and many more. Rent-a-boat
It’s a small effort to get on one of the electric boats. Cruise the canals in a environment-friendly way going full electric. Be your own catpain, decide your direction, bring your own drinks and bites and you got a plan!
SUP (stand-up-Paddling)
Supping is a nice way to explore the waters of Amsterdam in an active way. Although it might get really hot due to the weather, with water around it’s still one of the most popular activities of the moment
Rent a canalbike
Fancy biking, but too hot or crowded on the street? Then a canalbike is the perfect alternative.
Explore the canals peddling on your own canalbike (up to 4 persons), leaving from right around the corner. This is fun for young and old!

Museums are the best way to completely forget about hot weather. Surround yourself by beautiful artworks of great artists and spend hours getting lost in history and people’s life-works, telling their personal stories.
